One of the great things about online lessons is that your child remains in their familiar environment. This minimises distractions compared to being in a new space, which can be full of unfamiliar and distracting elements. This advantage makes online learning particularly effective for our ADHDers!

When I teach ADHD kids in my home clinic, it can be challenging to keep them focused, although I have special techniques for this. However, online, this challenge is significantly reduced, leading to better engagement and concentration. Many parents are surprised by this!

For online lessons, I often recommend that some kids wear headphones. This not only ensures optimal sound quality but also helps them concentrate on the lesson. It can be very effective, though it isn't always necessary, but definitely worth trying.

I am highly experienced with ADHD. With 20 years in education, 11 of those specifically focused on teaching neurodivergent kids, and personal experience with ADHD within my own family, I understand how ADHD minds work. Working online with children is not only feasible but can be particularly effective for kids with autism. I have both personal and professional experience working with autistic kids, so I get their needs.

Autistic kids have sensory needs, so a comfortable environment is sometimes vital. Anxieties about meeting new people and going somewhere can also be overwhelming, making online perfect in this case.

Building a quick rapport is crucial. I have taught countless autistic kids online and am a master at establishing a quick rapport.

The way the dyslexic brain learns to read is unique and requires specialised synthetic structured systematic methods. This is easy to deliver online. It's crucial that dyslexic kids, and indeed all kids, receive high-quality, evidence-based instruction to understand the relationship between sounds and print, ensuring their success and confidence in literacy.
